Beach Haven

When Kaye and Ian came to me they had bought the little cottage by the beach and had lived there through several seasons.
They had plans for their beach haven, and I detected several problems with the design and layout. 
​

• Firstly - Entry was through the kitchen between 'fridge and work spaces which is not ideal.
• The positioning of the living room allowed little privacy for the ill laid out bathroom and laundry.
• The second bedroom was 2.1m x 2.8m, too small for required bed and desk.
• The proportional sizes of ensuite to bedrooms imbalanced.

Solutions
I presented solutions to assist traffic by entering between kitchen and dining, to use cavity sliding doors where possible giving a spacious appearance and to provide more storage.
Proximity to the second bedroom, which is also used as a guest room or study, is more favorable to be accessed via living room.
The two bathrooms, one including laundry facilities, are functional and private.

The owner enjoyed turning his hand to making the island and light fitting to wonderful quirky results.

Brilliant, functional sun filled space, easy to maintain, exceptionally effortless to unwind and relish.

Plenty of space to entertain, watch the wild life pass and enjoy the abundant bird life.

How is this for a beautifully restful and inspiring bedchamber. Out in the country you would awake to the silence interrupted by only bird noises. Bask in the sun coming across the natural bush garden and warming the room, ensuring a bright start to any day. But the compact home means you will also wake to the smell of the coffee brewing!

A very cozy, comfortable country beach house in which to snuggle down watching winter pass or open to beach days with friends and summer breezes!
